Great Ocean Jet Ski Adventure for Children's Charity Fundraisers
A PAIR of mates and a jet ski will set off on an epic adventure next month.
Josh Turley and Matt Dowling will travel more than 500 kilometres on a jet ski to raise money for the Variety children's charity to help support disadvantaged kids.
The men will share the workload, while one stays on land with the car the other will be clocking up more than 100 kilometres a day on Victoria's coastline. Mr Dowling said riders from across Australia would begin their trek from Portland before travelling to Warrnambool, Lorne, the Mornington Peninsula and finishing in Phillip Island.
Mr Dowling said he had always wanted to drive the Great Ocean Road, so when he found out he could do it on a jet ski, he could not say no.
"I've always talked about going on a road trip over there, so when I found out about the Jet Trek I thought it was perfect because I got to do both," he said.
The men said they had both been involved with boats and water-sports their whole lives.
Mr Dowling said he was not afraid of what Victoria's weather might throw at him.
"Rain, hail or shine I'll be out there on the water," he said.
The pair must raise more than $2500 to be eligible for the Jet Trek.

"We have held a few barbecues at Bunnings and people have been amazing, we have managed to raise heaps of money. We're holding another one this Saturday," he said.
"We've also made up tins and the local communities and business have been so supportive."
Last year the Jet Trek raised $145,000, this year organisers hope to reach $250,000 for Variety children's charity.
