Children's Charity Offers Training to Recruit Volunteer Mentors

Mentor Link
STOURPORT-based children’s charity, Mentor Link, which provides long-term one-to-one social and emotional support to vulnerable and distressed children is seeking volunteers.

The charity professionally recruits and trains volunteer mentors to listen to and support children and young people facing difficulties such as illness, low self-esteem, bereavement, family breakdown, self-harm and relationships.

Its aim is to create a more positive attitude towards themselves and their learning. The well-being of these young people forms the focus of the charity’s work.

With over 13 years’ experience of providing this service to schools and a good track record of success, the charity is recruiting more volunteer mentors. No qualifications are necessary, you just need to be a good listener and role model with an interest in supporting young people.

Applicants are required to have Enhanced DBS (disclosure and barring service) clearance and be able to commit to giving an hour a week for a minimum of six months. Training is provided free of charge and travel expenses are paid.

Mentor Link offers a prompt, professional, long-term and dedicated service to children and also welcomes enquiries from parents, schools, health professionals or community groups.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer mentor, or would like to know more about the service the charity provides, please contact Claire Quinn on 07973 572768, Claire.Quinn@mentorlink.org.uk or have a look at our website www.mentorlink.org.uk
